I have been selling Bosch products since 1975, as a Bosch warehouse distributor and supplier of Mercedes parts. The quality of the products from the Robert Bosch Corporation has always been of the highest quality and design. I have found that the expansion of the manufacturing of Bosch products to other countries like Spain and India has not affected the quality or low defective return rate. I have found that the detail and quality that goes into the re-manufacturing of Bosch premium remanufactured alternators and starters is way beyond any other rebuilder I am familiar with. This is especially true of the "assembly line rebuilders that simply disassemble, clean and reassemble units with almost no new or rebuilt parts installed, and many times not even tested. I can not even begin to expound on the number of phone calls I have had from customers needing a replacement for the junk rebuilt unit they bought form a McParts auto parts chain. It is my recommendation that you buy a Bosch unit the first time to eliminate headaches, and take advantage of the Bosch Ultimate Protection Plan 2-Year Warranty.
With that said I have seen that the efforts of Bosch to get into other aspects of the automotive market have met limited success. The filter program embarked on by Bosch is one of those. Bosch has been and still is an OE supplier of fuel filters, and are of the highest quality available. The oil and air filters in their program however are not, in my estimation, of as high a quality as OEM suppliers like Mahle, Knecht, Mann, Hengst and others. The Bosch cabin filters however, many of which are carbon not just paper, are of the finest available.
